Encouraged by the #2smalltofail and #gomighty4kids campaign, I had a terrific morning with my two-year old at our local Children’s Museum.
Sawyer and I dropped his big brothers off at school and set off for our Special Mommy Date. We climbed all over the fire truck exhibit discussing the various bells, whistles, and lights before he ditched me for a turn behind the steering wheel.
My little guy loves driving so much, he is plotting a way to get a turn behind the minivan wheel in the near future. For real. It is the foundation for many conversations: safety, legal driving age, power dynamics (grown-ups really have all the fun, don’t we).
After the role play time, he ran off for the wiggle wall. I love that he was unafraid to climb into a random meshed-off climbing zone and just DO IT. He navigated many bigger children in a few tight corners while I watched. Proud mama moment.
After he took several vertical loops of bravery, we splashed in the water zone and a few other areas before taking off for a special lunch date and debriefing about our special day.
