So far, I find that I must remember to do this first thing in the morning. If I do, I stick with it well all day. If I don’t, suddenly it’s the end of the day and I remember, “oh, I wanted to use this method! oops.”
I use a free Google Chrome app (the Pomodoro Method) which is a simple timer, 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes to take a break. The timer sound scares me out of my chair so I turn the sound off now and rely on the little popups to know when the time is up.

Besides getting me out of my chair every 25 minutes I have found that these regular five minute breaks have helped to feel less stressed through the day and keep me focused in a relaxed way. During those five minutes I refill my water or tea, walk out onto my porch, or stretch a little. It’s just enough time to get out of my head for a moment and it’s really nice!
What a great idea! I’m stealing it for myself :D
