I just stumbled across a new project, and I really want to participate!  The Depressed Cake Shop is a pop-up concept in which volunteers organize sales of grey-colored cakes and other baked goods to raise awareness about mental health issues — and funds for a local mental health initiative.

I want to gather my baking friends and create a lovely display of grey cakes. I am thinking about mental health initiatives that support youth and/or young veterans of war. Any Go Mighty bakers in Los Angeles want to join in?

According to the project website :

The idea was conceived by Emma Cakehead in the UK and to date more than 30 Depressed Cake Shops have popped up all over the world – from Scotland to San Francisco.  Since the inaugural shop opened in August this all-volunteer effort has raised over $46,000.
