Labor Day weekend I made it to my final Smithsonian museum! The Anacostia Community Museum is in southeast DC, south of the Anacostia River. There is a shuttle from the metro or the National Mall, but I drove from the Frederick Douglass House a mile away.

The museum is small and has room for 3 exhibits. When I visited there was one on the history of African-American baseball in DC, one on quilting in Mississippi, and one of a community of bead artists in South Africa. The beadwork was absolutely amazing (see below)! I would recommend this to people who want to venture from the usual tourist path or have been to DC several times.
