So what you see above is the mahogany wood mold I’ve made for my violin and the spruce ribs I’ve bent and coerced into place. The ribs started out as thin, flat pieces of spruce. With truly great (and patient) instruction, I learned how to heat and shape the curves and secure them into place. Also, you can see the blocks at the top, bottom and at the end of each ‘C’ on the sides. The ribs were wider than the blocks, so I spent one day after work shaving these down to make the ribs and blocks level with one another.
