I’ve been knitting since I was about 16 years-old. But after being a fair-weather knitter for the past 12 years, I’ve finally stepped up my game. In the past month I’ve made my first baby blanket, and this ridiculously snuggly herringbone cowl:

So what’s my next step? Learning a new skill of course. I’ve taken one intro crochet class, but since I didn’t pick up a crocheting project immediately after I’ve forgotten everything I “knew.” But I’ve been obsessing over this beautiful Granny Stripe Blanket from the Purl Bee blog  for a couple of years now. I envision that one day my apartment will have a basket or chest filled with blankets next to the fireplace (this is a dream, remember), and I definitely want this blanket to be included.

Luckily, I have several crafty friends, including Sarah  (pronounced Sah-rah). Not only does she have a paper craft book, but she’s great with fiber arts, too. She’s agreed to teach me how to crochet, and help me complete this blanket at our monthly knit nights. I guess we’ll have to find another name for them if I start crocheting, huh?
