Rising early, we arrived at the pagoda Law Ka Ou Shaung just before sunrise. Though not much more than brick and mortar, the structure stands strong. As is the respect required we stripped our feet bare before climbing the steep staircase of the Pagoda. While not nearly as high as many others, Law Ka Ou Shaung’s placement provides impressive views of Old Bagan without surrounding yourself with tourists. Climbing higher than others, I was rewarded with a breathtaking view of Temples and Pagodas shrouded in mist and illuminated by the light of a rising sun.
